About this site

I’ve been a car enthusiast for as long as I can remember. I enjoy learning about the vehicles people drive, getting my hands dirty and helping make maintenance and troubleshooting a little less frustrating. One of my favourite projects is working on my 1969 VW dune buggy. It’s a very different vehicle from an Explorer, but the enjoyment of figuring things out is much the same.
A good friend of mine owns a 2015 Ford Explorer XLT in Tuxedo Black Metallic with the naturally aspirated 3.5L V6. That was the inspiration for this website. Instead of mixing advice for different Explorer generations, I wanted a place focused on the 2015 model year.
The site covers all 2015 Explorer trims and engine options, not just my friend’s XLT. You’ll find guidance on fluid specifications, scheduled maintenance, warning lights and common symptoms. When equipment or engine options change an answer, I’ll try to point it out.
I’m based on the west coast of British Columbia. I’m not a Ford technician, and this is an independent guide, not a substitute for the correct manual or a professional inspection. I use Ford’s documentation as a starting point and will refine these articles as better model-specific information becomes available.
If you spot an error or have a useful firsthand observation, I’d be happy to hear about it.
